Notepad++ Has Become My Favorite Code Editor

Just a few weeks ago I stumbled onto Notepad++. I was looking for a quick loading, no frills code editor to replace Windows Notepad and Notepad++ did the trick. It has a nice features set, a good number of additional built-in features and available plug-ins.

Good call Phil - Notepad++ is amazing. You nailed the description, no frills but also extensible.

I have been looking for a good Rails IDE and recently stumbled upon http://www.e-texteditor.com/ which I also recommend. (I’ve been planning to write an article about it once I have a few more days of experience with it)

Hey Scott, the version control feature looks pretty cool in that app. That alone is a compelling function.

I’ve been using NP++ for a long time and it is indeed a very good text editor. The only gripe I have with it is it doesn’t seem to retain tabs when I copy and paste code from one file to another. But that’s a very minor issue and far from enough to stop me from using it.

Art, have you played with the cloning feature? I’ve also noticed that Notepad++ is highly configurable which is great, but also takes some tweaking to get it the way you want. Perhaps it’s a config issue, I’m not sure.
