Desktop RSS reader FeedDemon (Win) and NetNewsWire (Mac), along with a full suite of other nifty products are now available as free downloads fron newsgator.
I’ve been using Google Reader for a long while but the feature set and functionality FeedDemon promises has earned it at least a trial run, and so far so good. I like the idea of offline access without the bother of installing Google Gears, yet I can also view and synchronize with a newsgator account.

Wow, that is great news! I really like FeedDemon. So far I only use Google Reader, but thats because I am online 100% of the time and I am using it at different locations. FeedDemon will be great as a supplement.
Yeah, that does look very cool. I’ve been thinking more and more of moving away from a browser based reader to something on the desktop. I think I’ll have to give it a whirl.
[…] read over at TechFires that you can now download FeedDemon for Windows and NetNewsWire for Macintosh absolutely […]
I used NetNewsWired on my Mac for the express reason that I can use it and NewsGator on the web and everything stays in sync. Nice knowing I don’t have to worry about what I use where - it all just works and stays up-to-date.
Michael,
I haven’t tried the online functionality yet but I think it will come in handy.
After a couple of days I still find myself trying to mimic my Google Reader interface and workflow which is probably the wrong way to go about it I’m a little overwhelmed by it, but am getting more accustomed with each use.
