Interesting Tech News & Opinions at blah, blah! technology

Blah blah Tech - Screenschot

One of my favorite Tech News sites is the inronically named blah, blah! technology. Ironic in that there is nothing boring or uninteresting about the info and opinions found here.

Where other sites just echo news from elsewhere, blah, blah! technology is full of original commentary - this is no retread news site. Author Wayne Smallman does a great job of distilling big topics into concise articles that help put things into real perspective. A daily read for me, highly recommended.

Wayne is also the author of the Socialize Me Wordpress plugin which we’ll be reviewing later.

Google Shared Stuff has Serious Potential

Google has taken social bookmarking to a new level. Shared Stuff enables you to easily email links with commentary to users via Gmail, post to your Google Shared Stuff profile page, or bookmark to prominent bookmark sites: Facebook, Furl, del.icio.us, Social Poster, Reddit and Digg.

Google Bookmark

Using Shared Stuff is very simple, just go to Shared Stuff, fill-out your profile including any blog or social networking links, drag the Email/Share button to your bookmarks and you are set. People can then subscribe to your RSS feed updating them with the latest and greatest information you find online.

Tumblr is Great for Kids

Want to encourage your children to blog in a safe environment? Not excited about the ilk that hangs out at places like MySpace? As a home school dad, I have my 12 year-old and soon my 10 year-old blogging using Tumblr. Check out Gloriana’s Bookblog for a real-life example. To enable comments, I used a customized template and inserted a link to a Haloscan comment account. When setting-up the account in Haloscan, choose the last install option for “None of the Above/Manual” to retrieve the snippit of code to drop just below the post in Tumblr. Set the comment notifications to come to you in the email setting. Last thing to do is use Google Analytics to track the traffic. Nothing will get your kids writing like comments and traffic. Heck, their no different from us.

The MyBlogLog for the Cool Crowd

flux

Admittedly I may not be cool enough for this one. Flux is a social bookmarking site that makes it very easy to join the community of site you visit with the Flux icon. This one smacks of media centered content, so if your blog is focused on that arena, Flux may be the social community for you.
